Crime is on the rise in Mesa County.

We support a small county sales tax increase to make our community safer.

Amounting to about a dime a day for the average family, the funds generated by the tax will be used to hire more law enforcement officers to deter and catch criminals, more district attorneys to prosecute criminals, and ensure that our law enforcement professionals are trained and equipped to take back our streets.

“This is only about $3 a month and it will save lives. When you need help from law enforcement, they will be available. Back the badge, vote yes for public safety.”

“I’m not a fan of taxes, but there is nothing more important to our community than public safety. Gas, groceries, and prescription drugs are exempt from the increase. It’s a small increase, but it will have a big impact.”

“Although I am on a fixed income I realize the importance of feasible law enforcement. I therefore am voting yes for public safety. In addition, I am pleased that essentials like gas, groceries and prescription drugs are exempt. Having sufficient funds for law enforcement is absolutely necessary.”

“Opioid addiction is crushing our community. We need emergency responders who can show up in time to save people. I am voting yes for public safety because it will literally save lives.”

“The Palisade Chamber of Commerce proudly endorses the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office and the 21st Judicial District Attorney’s Ballot Issue 1A to increase the county sales tax by .37%. The average family in Mesa County will pay less than $3 per month but the rewards will be priceless. We all win in having a safer Community; our quality of life is worth every penny.”
